Meet Andrea

Andrea was born and raised in Genesee County, she has spent 25 years as an Assistant County Prosecutor. She currently serves as Bureau Chief of the Felony Trial Division, and has handled probate, family, and criminal matters throughout her career — including guardianships, child protection cases, mental health proceedings, and elder abuse.

She is running for Probate Judge because she believes Genesee County families deserve a judge who already knows this work.

Who is Andrea LeGendre?

Why is she running for Probate Judge specifically?

Probate court handles some of the most difficult moments a family will ever face. Andrea has spent decades in these proceedings not as an outside observer, but as a working attorney who has guided cases through this very system.

She is not running against anyone. She is running for this role because she is prepared for it, and because she wants to serve the community she has called home her entire life.

What experience does she have in probate?

Andrea has directly handled cases in Genesee County Probate Court involving:

  • Guardianships and conservatorships for children and vulnerable adults

  • Child abuse and neglect proceedings

  • Civil mental health matters

  • Juvenile delinquency cases

  • Elder abuse and exploitation

She has appeared before every level of trial court in Genesee County, including Circuit, District, Probate, and Family Courts, as well as the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Steady. Careful. Fair.

Andrea believes every person who comes before this court — in grief, in crisis, or in conflict — deserves to be treated with dignity. She will bring the same seriousness to the bench that she has brought to 25 years of public service.

She is not interested in the politics of it. She is interested in getting it right.

What are her credentials?

The Probate Court handles matters involving wills and estates, guardianships, mental health commitments, child protection, and the legal affairs of people who cannot fully speak for themselves — including minors, elders, and individuals with disabilities.

It is quiet, important work. Families rarely plan for it. When they need this court, they need a judge who is steady, fair, and experienced.
