Meet Andrea

Andrea L. LeGendre is a lifelong Genesee County resident and a dedicated public servant who has spent more than 25 years protecting children, families, and vulnerable members of our community. As an Assistant County Prosecutor and Bureau Chief, she leads with fairness, steady judgment, and a deep respect for the law and the people it serves.

Experience in Probate, Family, and Trial Courts

Andrea brings decades of hands-on experience in the courtroom and in leadership roles:

✓ Assistant County Prosecutor with the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office for 25 years.

✓ Bureau Chief leading the Felony Trial Division.

✓ Oversees matters in Family and Probate Court, including child abuse and neglect, juvenile delinquency, guardianships, and civil mental health proceedings.

✓ Appeared before every level of trial court within Genesee County, including Circuit, District, Probate, and Family Courts.

✓ Prosecuted complex jury trials involving homicide, elder abuse, child abuse and neglect, mental health matters, and other serious felony offenses.

✓ Handled juvenile delinquency and guardianship cases affecting children and vulnerable adults.

✓ Managed cases in the Michigan Court of Appeals.

✓ Supervises and mentors assistant prosecutors, helping to develop the next generation of legal professionals.

✓ Leads and coordinates multidisciplinary teams, working closely with law enforcement, community agencies, and court partners to improve safety and justice outcomes.

Serving Genesee County Beyond the Courtroom

Andrea’s commitment to Genesee County extends into her volunteer and leadership roles in the community:

  • Lifelong Genesee County resident, actively engaged in local community service.

  • Member of the Michigan Board of Law Examiners since 2008, helping maintain the integrity and professionalism of Michigan’s legal system.

  • Appointed to the Michigan Board of Law Examiners by Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

  • Leadership and advisory roles with organizations supporting children, families, and vulnerable populations, including:

    • Voices for Children

    • American Red Cross

    • Genesee Career Institute

    • Community Foundation of Greater Flint’s Women and Girls Fund

  • Member of the Elder Abuse Alliance, working to protect older adults from abuse and exploitation.

  • Active participant in the Genesee County Multidisciplinary Team and Child Death Review, focusing on child safety and prevention.

  • Active member of the Genesee County Bar Association
